Hard not to look when there's such a burly beefy man hunk directly across from you in the mirror. You guys might not have that problem ;-)

You are right, I don't have that 'problem'. I just have never been attracted to burly beefy men. But hey, it's America, more power to ya!

I got to impart some wisdom at the gym today. There's this kid there everyday all he does is some very light bench and a myriad of light dumbbell work like curls, kickbacks, some preacher curl, press downs etc...

Today he saw me bench 220 for an easy 8 and asked how he can get stronger and he's been going to the gym for a year and he's weak as hell. I told him to get a copy of Starting Strength and start eating an uncomfortable amount of food.

I explained he's committed by coming everyday but he's just doing all the wrong things and he can dumbbell curl 10 lbs for the next five years and he won't be a bit stronger. I explained he needs to get under a barbell and squat, deadlift, bench, press, dips, and chins, eat a ton at least 5000 calories a day and check back in 9 months or so and see where you're at.

It's not all his fault there's this other guy at the gym who is naturally a bigger guy who is kinda strong, he can bench what I can and has big arms, but he's probably 4 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier than me. He was teaching this kid isolation curls and all sorts of stupid bodybuilding crap and this kid is 5'8 and not a lb over 110 lbs so the kid just listened to him. Hopefully I see him squatting and stop with these nonsensical 5 lb tricep kickbacks and shit.

I do what algones describes. Move the pins so I am facing away from the mirror. I can look down and not watch myself, but I have the advantage of being ugly. Facing teh morror is a problem though when something starts to go wrong, because the natural instinct is to look in the mirrror, which tends to makes things worse.

I found that the little pause to look in the mirror to check parallel, screws me up to get out of the hole with good form

Walked out of the gym and overheard the owner and top trainer stroking each others egos. Apparently the world record deadlift is only 700lbs.
