It's really overrated. Movies of 2000-2010 that are better than Avatar:
-Lord of the Rings
-The Dark Knight
-Balls of Fury

Balls of Fury has a plot, Avatar doesn't.
Oh, but it does. Just, not a terribly innovative one:

It's like the Jazz Singer: terrible movie, only remembered because it's the first talkie. But, really, from what I've heard of people who do stuff with 3D, Avatar isn't all that technically impressive. So what do we have? Yeah, I guess it's Pocahontas.
And yet I still like it.

Avatar is a superb film, a great film to watch in a cinema. People who talk about it endlessly need to get a life. People who think they're special because they don't think avatar deserves the hype need to grow the fuck up and find a new hobby. Go read War and Peace or something, assholes.
I don't think I'm special. I AM special. I recommend the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation of War and Peace, by the way. How much are you squatting these days?
Suddenly we're on 4chan.

Why that translation? Mine is by Louise and Aylmer Maude. I squatted 2x5, 90kg on friday, squatting 93.75 kg today and 100kg by the end of the week, while on a caloric deficit mind you. How much are you squatting? My point is simply that, yes avatar on paper isn't the best story ever told, but as a film, and as a film it is one of the most successful films released. I found it a bit tiresome at times too, but i'm not going to go around saying it's shit just to be an individual, like some people.
The old "appeal to squatting weight" fallacy I see.
Also, War and Peace is overrated.
Oh yeah, I was here, and then I went there!
