I had better results working out by myself following muscle mag routines than I did doing Xfit. There are millions of people that got bigger, stronger and in better shape working out in regular gyms doing regulat BB routines. Accountability is the missing equation. If you work hard you'll get results.
I think alot of the people that prefer working out at a Xfit facility do so for the social atmosphere (need friends) not wanting to workout by themselves, lack of any decent trainers around them, or are too stupid to figure anything out for themselves. Do you really need to spend 1k to have someone teach you medicine ball cleans?

They don't close threads here. They only do that at the CF boards.

In fact, I think several of the workouts are very good for those pursuing GPP (mixing fast and slow lifts, varying intensity, volume, and duration). My problems are with the man behind-, the myth about-, the culture of-, the program.

The man created the myth (we’ll get there). He claims to have discovered something that has been known for a long time: cross-training is effective for building GPP. Claiming cross-training as your own IP is rather unethical… it’s dishonest. The marketing the man has created boasts elite numbers that are not duplicable or substantiated. This smacks of a lack of rigor. Additionally, the ad-hominems against those of known high moral fiber and those of differing opinions (regardless of independent success) is unprofessional and, at a personal level, I find his moral character lacking.

The myth is that by following the programming protocol, you will become elite. You will not. I have not heard of crossfit producing a sub 4 minute mile, a 700lb deadlifter, or a national contender in oly lifting (these are “elite” numbers in my book)
100% agree. These are the reasons why most people think of Xfit as a joke.

Really? I thought it was about strength & conditioning. Silly me.

That must be it. Lesson: you are much smarter than anyone around you.

Your presence on this forum reminds me of a dog who's always looking to piss or shit in some place where people normally walk unencumbered.

I personally like the ideas that Crossfit has to offer and if it allows more people the opportunity to be exposed to olympic lifting and powerlifting, more power to them.

What I don't like about crossfit is that anyone can attend a weekend long course, become level 1 "certified", plunk down $2000 and open their own crossfit facility. While some of these new "coaches" may do just fine, a lot of them don't know their head from their ass when it comes to programming or teaching others how to perform the lifts correctly.

If you can find a facility owned and operated by someone who is competent, more power to you, otherwise, good luck.

There is a Crossfit affiliate in my hometown, and they don't do any barbell lifts as far as I know - they do the same personal training crap that goes on in any commercial gym.

Evidently they're not all the same, as my facility is all about barbells, with a dedicated weight room with about 12 platforms.

I like how you removed half my reasoning to try and make a point. Fucking loser. Have fun spending a $150/month bouncing your ass off a medicine ball. Hopefully you'll make some friends to hang out with.

Right, that's the point I was trying to make: crossfit affiliates are very inconsistent. Some (like yours) are good and some (like the one in my hometown) are shitty.
