The thinner the 20kg bumper, the more expensive it is. There a bunch of people making bumpers as reasonable prices, more sources in the last 5 years, but some of them are just crazy large. Of course, the old Kraiburg ones could be pretty big. See here for reference (popped up on the google): http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=12967&page=3

We have those huge bumpers at my gym (I think they're made by Troy?). Every once in a while when I'm working out all of the metal plates are in use, and I have to do my squats with them. I always feel like a huge tool loading them on.

The proper ones, Eleiko and similar, are not that thick. ~300kg will fit on a bar using those. Then there are the hugely fat, all-rubber ones that one sees in Crossfit videos. I don't know who makes them. I think the max there is 4x20kg per side or something. They also bounce like nobody's business making deadlifts for reps a doddle.

All-metal powerlifting plates are of course thinner still and over 500kg will comfortably fit on a normal bar.
Yeah talk about it. I just spend a lot of money on a home gym with a lot of plates. All of them are bumpers because I thought it would be good when training in an apartment so it doesn't make too much noise. When I got it delivered I found out all of the plates can not sit on the bar so now I have to supplement with some thin iron plates :-(

Those fat ones are rogue economy bumpers I bet. The source of crossfitters ego inflated squats and deadlifts.

He's saying words. But, they don't make sense. It's almost like listening to a schizo. Around 6:00 it starts getting particularly funny though. What Lauren Glassman does with her 50% is not up to him or CFHQ at all.

Also, he confuses health and fitness. A common mistake.

I listened to the whole thing. But, I had to take breaks. For anyone who wants to skip straight to the point, go to 6:00.

Wait, was this before or after they sold to reebok, required people to wear branded apparel at the games, have de-affiliated people for speaking up on the forum...
