I thank everyone for the kind words.

Doing something different. I don't think I've done a backsquat in a decade or more. So I think I'll give them a try. The first thing I found was that my left thigh adductor was a bit weak. My low back isn't 100% yet so maybe with another chiro treatment it will be and my BS will build a bit quicker. Also drug out my old Trapbar and going to give that a try too.

    Back Squat--140x5--230x3--320x1
    TBDL--275x2--345x1--405x1--455x1
    Hammer curls--35'sx10--65'sx2 sets of 10

I started very light with the squats, the low back and also the Perfesser's elk season opens tomorrow. She was drawn for a cow elk tag and we have a few herds spotted. If she is lucky enough to score, I'll have about 400lbs of meat to pack out from where ever she kills it. Hopefully it will be close to a road. The excitement has went out of it due to our loss yesterday but we'll do our best to fill the freezer the rest of the way.

Oldster, you read anything by C.J. Box? I think you'd like his books.

I'd never heard of him, Mark. But a little search shows me I better get started on his books. They look awesome! Thanks!

Except for the game warden part you practically ARE one of his characters. He writes about how people and life get on in rural America better than anyone I've ever read. Unlike a lot of people who understand it because they came from that place, he actually portrays it with real respect and regard. Too many others seem ashamed of it and feel obligated to put the place and the people down to kiss up to their editors and the reading audience they are trying to attract. City folk. Of course they just want their prejudices reinforced so they can feel superior. Not Box though. His love for it really shines through. He captures a lot of the small town elements I grew up with.

That's cool. It seems as if perhaps I've let a little more of me come across than I had planned..

I'll bet none of his characters had a mostly bald head and a big black beard though...

That doesn't happen often. Not often at all.

The largest town I lived close to was around 1200. The smallest less than 100 which is where I am now.

Lets just say I wouldn't be considered 'cultured'. But lets keep that a secret because I bet few here have picked up on that.....

Gee... I better get after it...

Hauling out the elk may be a chore, but I hope consuming some fresh game meat will cheer you up a bit. Good luck.

I'd like to be back up into the mid 500's by early spring if everything holds togather, Eric. But I really have no desire to go any higher anymore. I'll leave that for the young bucks. Long gone are the days when I looked forward to using 500 for a couple reps on my light week. If I can work back up to a painfree 525 or 550, I'd be satisfied. For an old guy..

The Perfesser was in bed and asleep by 8 pm tonight dreaming of a cow elk in her sights tomorrow!

Bad news, our truck broke down today when we were heading out to hunt. Its being looked at now, hooked up to a computer I guess to see what is messed up in my trucks computer. Bummer. But we'll have a few days left by the time the truck is hopefully fixed. She'll just have to take some time off next week from school.

    20" Close grip--up to 240x15--315x6 sets of 2
    16" Close grip--250x15
    T-Bar rows--135x10
    Ab rollers--10

Pleased with my fifteen reps with the 16" close grip after how hard the 20" version was today. T-Bar rows. Never performed them before so I did one single pretty light top set to get the feel of them. I guess its a T-Bar row, we put the end of a regular bar in a corner and pulled. Brucie used to do them in College and thought we should try something different. I like it and see how a fellow could work up to 300-400lbs in this.

The ab rollers. Wow. That one single standing set of four reps Monday seemed to have left some residuals. After only 10 reps from my knees I could feel my abs something fierce, after a few minutes I was afraid I had reinjured something. If there is little pain on Friday I think I'll be good to go one day per week.
