    HA HA HA HA!

Over here it is being broadcast live...

I'd feel even better about this if there were actually some Greek lifters in the competion.

How the mighty have fallen... Where are the succsesors of Dimas? Kakiasvilli? Sabanis? Valerios Leonidas?

(As my friend LeonidasfromSparta will tell you, most of those guys came out of the Albanian training programs. But that still begs the question, WHY ISN'T ALBANIA PRODUCING BIG LIFTERS ANYMORE?!)

As if lifters from other countries don't use steroids?!?!?!

(Sour grapes grumble mumble nationalistic lunacies mumble petty jealousy etc).

True my friend, we have had some very good weightlifters, and some of them came and won medals for Greece. I respect their choice (even though I prefer they competed for Albania) b/c I understand that they are much better supported financially and socially in Greece than in Albania. Most of the coaches here have had training background in Russia, doing strength training in addition to weightlifting training (what Rip has said for years now), and that explains the very good results they've had. We still got some strong weightlifters here (for example Fetie Kasaj for women, ranked 2nd in the European and Erkand Qerimaj and Daniel Gazheli for men, both Europian Champions ), but as many other sports have begun rolling downwards, the same has happened to weightlifting. The weightlifters have declared they are not participating in the world championship in Antalya unless they are supported better financially especially regarding nutrition (they weren't paid their nutrition expenses for 7 months). So this is the actual state of things, and I hope that our government will do its part and support this guys the way they deserve. Still it's a pity, we had some good chances this year, considering we had 7 athletes competing...

The above is a link to a page of links to videos from China TV I think. Each one of the actual videos are over a half hour long, and show every lift from multiple angles in slow motion. I cant read any of the text or understand what they are saying, but videos of the lifts and lifters is absolutley worth seeing if you have any interest in watching O lifting.

At least you guys were clever enough to get coaches, instead of just "adopting" lifters like we did, but then we made no provisions to keep our weightlifting program strong.

Albania is set to become a power in weightlifting I believe. Someone has to represent Europe.
