the 190KG looked easy mate. good luck in the comp.
No offense as i havent read your whole log, but whys your bench so low compared to your squat and deadlift?
Honestly, I have no idea. I thought it could be bad form, but even with bad form it should be much further along, and these days my form is tight. For some reason my arms are much weaker than my back and legs, but not for want of my trying. It really pisses me off, since even skinny wannbe-bb doing shit routines can out bench me. I've just accepted that my bench is going to be a long work in progress.
Anyway I was happy about my weigh in weight for the comp 99.5kg, got it perfectly.
I'm going to check out if melbourne has any competitions next year, would be fun to have a crack.
Both CAPO and Powerlifting Australia have comps in Melbourne (I'm lifting in CAPO since they're the only ones that have events in the ACT). PA is also having a dedicated raw comp in Melbourne next year. Next year I want to try and lift at at least two full comps, and my gym is hosting a bench only comp, which is encouragement for me to try and get my bench up to the 100kg mark.
Pulled 185kg, 200kg, 210kg (15kg PB). Attempted a 5 plate 225 but only got it to around knee level, probably should have gone for a lower attempt of 217.5, but I really wanted to see if I could get 5 plates.
Just checked out that capo site. The winner got 340kg raw, that's huge!
Nah, that's last year results (capo website never seems to get updated). Dude at my comp pulled 355 raw, and got damm close to pulling 372.5. They came very close to running out of room to put plates on the bar (needed 25kg plates).
Experiance was great. Probably the single biggest thing I have to learn is not to get too caught up on set-goals, lift what I can lift on the day. If I hadn't been fixated on getting 5 plates then I probably could have got 217.5. After looking at the 210 there was no way I was going to pull 15kg more. But it was only a 4 lift PB attempt so I'm not upset or anything.
Congratulations! But what the hell are you doing using an overhand grip? 225 would be easy if you went mixed.
I've allways pulled with a hook grip and never really had any issue with grip. On the few occasions that I have done alternate grip it just hasn't felt right (and the day of a meet is not the right day to experiment with grip). Since my grip isn't failing me I don't see why alternate grip would make it easier?
Looking at my failed lift, it wasn't a grip issue. I was just really slow off the floor
