    Default Protein Powder

What are some good things to mix into a shake to add calories? I'm thinking Nesquik.

Carb powder (maltodextrin) is what they add to protien powder to make "mass gainer" or meal replacement. It seems way cheaper to mix the protien and carb powder together myself.

I throw in a banana and about a cup of frozen mixed berries, and I make my shake with milk instead of water. You could use juice, too. This, of course, is predicated on the availability of a blender, mortar and pestle, or similar pulverizing apparatus to render the banana and berries drinkable.

Bananas, plain greek yogurt (adds a nice tanginess), berries, whole milk, ground flax seed, various juices (with plain or fruit flavored protein powders).

    Personal mixture:

    Peanut butter cup shake

    2 Cups of Milk
    4 Ice Cubes
1/2-1 cup of Oats (Preference dominates here really. Can be really grainy)
1/2-1 cup of Peanut Butter (Too much = too thick. Too little = difficult to taste)
1/2-1 Banana (Make sure it's not overly ripe, otherwise that's all you'll taste.)
1-2 cups of Vanilla Protein powder (I use Syntha-6. Really amazing Taste)

My personal recipe aside, as greg said, most fruits and grains serve as good complements to a protein shake. Let me know if you try my recipe. I'm always eager to see what people think of it (Hardly original I know, but I did come up with it on my own =D)

    Another scoup of protein?

It really depends on what you NEED to suppliment your diet with. If all you need is sugar, replace milk with melted ice cream, or dump sugar into it. If you need more fat, use an oil of some sort. If you're already balanced, just make a bigger shake?

This is my pre-workout shake. Although I use a Pestel and mortor instead of the blender as it's more in line with Paleo.

For a regular meal replacement, I might add in something with a bit more substence and fat, like peanut butter and oatmeal.
