Boneyard makes really good beer. It's too bad we missed each other by less than a week. We left Bend Monday night.

Try ghee. Delicious, but all the milk solids are removed, leaving only the fat. I make my own ghee from grass-fed butter. Heaven, and a dream to cook with.

Resurrection of an old thread - -> We're getting ready to visit the kids in OR again this summer. Are there any new or noteworthy beers in the Oregon beer scene? We did the Ale Trail last year. I will most definitely make it to Boneyard once or twice; growlers to go are so civilized. What do I need to taste, where do I need to go this year?

If you like sours, Cascade Brewing Barrel House in SE PDX brews a great selection (they have other styles as well). And, it's not new by any means, but Hair of the Dog's Blue Dot is probably my favorite IPA (and perhaps beer). Lots of bottle shops have sprung up in the last year or two. So you can browse through the coolers for something that looks good and then they'll pour it for you -- makes for great variety in your drinking.

Thanks for the tip. I have my daughters on the look out for some Hair of the Dog. I looked at their web site and it appears that they are not widely distributed. If they are east of the Cascades, though, they'll be in Bend - I hope. If not, there just may be some alternatives for me to try...

We arrived in Bend late last night, in time for just one at 10 Barrel. The quest for establishing my favorite OR beer continues today.

Crux Fermentation Project is everything a micro-brewery should be. Outstanding.
