Funny. I'm not too close to East St. Louis. I used to go there in highschool to ride the MetroLink before they expanded it further into IL - my friends and I thought we were real tough being able to go into the hood without getting shot.

I've been through there a couple of times. I even flew a guy up to a place just northeast of Lambert (in Illinois). I can't remember the name of the place, but I went with the guy to a limo dealer in the area. He ended up purchasing a nice Lincoln Executive. He drove it back to West Point, MS. I got the faster ride in their crappy Piper Seneca :-) I will have to check a map and see where it was. It is a nice area though.

Olympic Press: 225lbs 8x1 A few of these at the end had a little leg drive, but I was having fun so I kept going. It was nothing like a full push press, but I did have a little knee bend in there. I will probably get back on track next week.

Closegrip Bench (Dynamic Effort @ 55%): 177.5lbs 10x3, 270lbs x1 All of these went well, so I will be moving up to 60% next time. I am technically getting higher than 80% on that last rep, but it is still moving really fast. I will keep pushing it up and see what happens.

1 Arm DB Rows: 120lbs 3x7 These went well, so I will try for more reps next time. If I start at the new PL gym, they have bigger weights. If that is the case, I will increase my weight and do lower reps instead.

    Shoulder rehab stuff...

My fondest memories of St. Louis...

    1. Playing Crossbow (old video game) with some of my Dad's pilot friends at the STL arcade. He flew Metro III's for TWE in the early to mid 80's.
    2. The St. Louis Zoo. Some baboon pressed it's bald butt on the glass and sprayed feces all over the place. Even though it happened almost 27 years ago, I still remember it like it happened yesterday!

    Ahh... I love St. Louis!

The St. Louis Zoo. Home of the late, great Marlon Perkins and Wild Kingdom. Let's not forget Mutual of Omaha, the company that pays.

I knew I was missing something to drive my progression forward! Delightful childhood trauma does wonders on linear progression. :-)

BTW nice log. You are helluva big guy.

Thanks for checking out my log!

Squat: 380lbs 4x1, 315lbs 4x3 I was really trying to go deep, and pulled my legs in pretty far. The weight was pretty tough, so I just did a couple of triples to mix things up. I will probably deload to 345lbs next week. I also wear spandex pants, so I will drop those as well. Hopefully this will help facilitate more gains up the road, since I am trying to cut some weight too. I would think that my squat would go up a little bit if I drop some weight, since it isn't like I am carrying all muscle... well I carry "Milwaukee Muscle" but that is slightly different! :-)

DL (Dynamic Effort @55%): 225lbs 10x1 All of these went well, so I will move up to 60% next time.

I was going to do my back raises, but this YMCA has a really shoddy back raise machine. It was wobbling all over the place with just me on it (not holding the 80lb weight). I will try to get these in next time, if I get to the new gym this week.

Bench: 322.5lbs 8x1, 315lbs x1 (2 sec paused rep) All of these went well, so I decided to try a paused rep at the end. That went well too, I will be moving up to 325 or 327.5lbs next time.

Push Press (Dynamic Effort): 155lbs 10x3 All of these went well, so I am going to reset and continue with the next 3 week wave.

Barbell Rows: 275lbs 6x3 All of these went well too, I will move up to 280lbs next time.

I met a couple of PL'ers at the YMCA too. They all lift RAW in NASA and are going to a meet in Iowa this weekend. They said there is another local meet in October, so I think I will plan on competing in that event. I'm sure I will suck, but it will be fun!

Halting DL: 410lbs 8x1 (last set full deadlift) All of these went well, so I will move up +10lbs next time.

Box Squats (Dynamic Effort @60%): 225lbs 10x2, 315lbs x1 All of these went well, so I will reset and continue the next 3 week wave.

Good Mornings: 155lbs 3x10 Moving up to 170-175lbs next time. I might do heavy GM's on one of the other days as well, since this gym doesn't have a place to do back raises.

Barbell Curls: 60lbs 3x10 Moving up to 65lbs next time.

Press: 227.5lbs 8x1 All of these went well, so I will move up to 230lbs next time. I might turn this into a full push press, when I get my form worked out. We will see.

Closegrip Bench (Dynamic Effort @60%): 195lbs 10x3, 275lbs x1 (2 second pause) All of these went well, and 275 moved real fast for a paused rep. Resetting back to 50% for the next 3 week wave.

1 Arm DB Rows: 120lbs 3x8 These went well too, so moving up to 9 reps per set next time.

Tricep Pushdows: 150lbs 3x10 Moving up to 160lbs next time, if I am still at the YMCA... otherwise I will do whatever weight feels good on the new machines.

Squat: 345lbs 6x1 These were a little more difficult than I thought they would be, so I decided to cut it short and go for 8 sets next time.

Good Mornings: 225lbs 6x3 All of these went well, so I will move up 15lbs next time (240lbs). I hope these help my hips/glutes out, since the weakest part of my squat is exploding out of the hole.

DL (Dynamic Effort @ 60%): 245lbs 10x1 All of these went well, so I will reset back to 50% for the next 3 week wave.

Side note: I will do more research on squat stuff, since that seems to be my weakest lift. I imagine I could squat 365lbs RAW, but I can bench 330-335lbs... what's up with that? My DL is moving along, but still probably around 420ish for my 1RM... again there seems to be a desparity between my upper/lower body. For now I will just keep pushing through and see what happens.
