Sunday Night Run + Revised schedule this week

After a full day sitting and eating at a fancy wedding, I forced myself out to run after sunset last night. I had hoped to also make it back into the gym before it closed at 8 for tri-rolls and some other assistance work, but it was not to be.

Anyway, thanks to a new playlist FULL of Journey (blame Wolf) I ran my ass off and felt a bit better about the somewhat wasted day of the aformentioned sitting-and-eating.

Today will be a full rest day; I'll deadlift tomorrow, squat Thursday, and leave for vacation Friday morning.

Nah, felt like a run tonight. Quick 20 minutes at a brisk pace. Did a body good.

    Default Fuck.

Was it the two days in a row of running?

    The insufficient sleep last night?

    The insufficient calories today?

    All of the above?

Who knows. My deadlift was weak today. It's almost as if I can only have a good deadlift workout every *other* deadlift workout.

Also, I misloaded my bar in my workout, which made me freak out at how heavy everything felt.

    Deadlift

155x5 (was supposed to be 145)
175x3 (was supposed to be 155)

Rep out: 185. I did THREE. Lame.

So. I knew I would never pull 210 or so, my designated heavy single, so we settled on 195. I failed the first time, took off my belt, chilled the fuck out, and stepped up when my coach wasn't looking to try again.

    195x1

    Yeah.

    Bench

75x5 (close grip - this is a hard weight for me with close grip)
    85x3 (widened grip)

Rep-out at 92.5: I only did ONE. So I waited, then did another single at that weight.

    Assistance Work

    Tri-Rolls @15lbs supersetted with DB Rows @45lbs.

It always amazes me that i can row with 45 lbs. I can barely carry that db from the stack to the bench, let alone work out with it.

Eh, you still got something decent.

I'm continuing to learn how to handle days when I don't feel 100% and the weights are near max. I'm convinced half the battle is not doing stupid shit like freaking out because I *should* be able to do X. I suspect you have a good coach to keep you in line

Same here. The mental part of lifting is the hardest part IMO.

So true. I am still in linear progression mindset, where I think if I don't lift a certain weight, I can't move "forward" in my next workout. I was reminded yesterday that this is no longer the case.

And yes, I am also grateful that someone else is in charge of reminding me of this
