Fine. Any statement or claim attributed to mstrofbass is to be considered a point of view which he considers fallible, and any disclaimer-free incidence of representation of his arguments is to be considered disclaimer-free merely for the sake of efficiency of communication.
You might consider that, if you're actually swimming in a thick pea soup of racism, you might not recognize anything but the most egregious examples of racism since regular old racism is just background noise.
I don't think this is true, because I am not convinced that Texas is uniquely racist. But since you are convinced it is, you might consider this.
Any statement or claim attributed to mstrofbass which regards judging racist intent of the watermelon/Obama meme within the limits of this thread is to be considered a point of view which he considers fallible, and any disclaimer-free incidence of representation of his arguments is to be considered disclaimer-free merely for the sake of efficiency of communication.
If you don't like that, draft something yourself, and I'll initial it.
So what you're saying when you say things like this:
is that you are not asserting that Texas is uniquely racist. It is just known for being uniquely racist.
If it's just known for being uniquely racist (by some unspecified party/parties), then how are we to supposed to take your opinions, which are predicated on the value of your perceptions as a Texas resident, at all seriously? You're not even committing to the point that Texas is uniquely racist (which is something I, personally, do not believe can be proved). The fact that you think some people somewhere consider Texas uniquely racist means absolutely nothing.
If I am making your words more extreme, it's because I'm trying to actually nail down something meaningful in what you're saying. I generally appreciate a desire to maintain nuance, but this goes far beyond that. It basically amounts to you making a senseless argument. Or a spineless one, perhaps. Often, the latter is the former.
This:
does not equal
I never said it's "uniquely racist" (where the fuck do you get this shit?), I was merely pointing out the fact that Texas is generally considered to lean towards the more racist side of the gamut than a lot of other places. I'm starting to think that the shifting of arguments to extreme positions is pathological.
