EDIT: this is hamburgerfan's fault, you know.
Squat - Double PR
45x10, 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 365x1, ...added wraps... 405x1, 440x1, 360x8
No sleeves or wraps until 405, and warm-ups felt particularly light today. Don't know which was the bigger PR, 440 or 360x8, but I do know which one left me totally gassed and wanting to die after! Today's goal was 360x7, so very pleased.
Good session, but it ran too long, so I hope to deadlift at home tonight.
Great work today Steve. Just as a note though, it looked like your butt went back a little on the 440, rather than up. Thats why there was that slight pause there on the way up. I think I remember Rip mentioning that to you on a form check before. It was a max effort lift and all that, so no biggie, but just something to think about and maybe cue yourself about going forward.
Yeah, thanks Bobby. That pause was the point where I almost didn't complete the lift. It took everything in me. So much that I will probably not try 445 for a couple weeks.
Congratulations on a great milestone, Steve.
Deadlift - PR
135x8, 225x3, 345x2, 405x1, 420x5
I only have one pair of 45-pound plates in my garage, so it was a real pain adding up all the little weights, haha. I actually thought 345 was 315 when I was pulling it. Probably shouldn't have done 405, or I would have hit 6 on the top set. Felt good about my setup, but my floor isn't exactly even, and I kept hitting the plates that I have on the ground to keep the bar from rolling. That threw me off a bit, but it was a pretty good session overall.
Come on Steve, fire up Craigslist and get a couple of pairs of 45s. Take advantage of those low iron prices in OK... I checked and I clearly have to pay more for rusty iron up here.
Seriously - why not avoid wasted time and errors in counting weights? Lifting is hard, no need to make loading the bar harder too.
As a newbie, I cannot advise you on programming, discipline, etc. I'll open my mouth on those matters when I'm all grown up.
DPMuller's Training Log
Funny you should mention that, Daniel. I was just scouring Cragslist Friday afternoon. I found a pair of 45's for $10!! I tried to contact the seller but have not heard back yet. I also sent about 5 other e-mails out to individuals selling sets to see if I could just buy the 45's.
