Any possibility of a seminar in flyover land (MN, WI, or IA), in 2012?

Minnesoooota is God's country, not flyover land. Wisconsin has cheese so it's worth a stop. As soon as a gym, with proper equipment, and an owner who has attended and passed the seminar and uses the Starting Strength methods in said gym asks us to come...we'll have a chance. Until then, it's not on the docket.

I totally agree with you, Julie, Minnesoooota is God's country. I guess I refer to it as "flyover land," because in business the upper midwest is often an afterthought, or a stop along the way enroute to another "main destination." At any rate, we jaded-types endearingly sometimes refer to it as "flyover land." Believe me, it would take an offer I couldn't refuse to leave the frozen tundra. My wife on the otherhand (who turns on the car seat heater in the middle of summer), thinks FL, GA, TX, or AZ, are the only states where she could live comfortably. The kids & I are thinking of sending her to one of those states for the entire summer next year to try to convince her otherwise.

Getting back to seminar locations, I thought there was a gym owner from Minneapolis and another in Iowa that attended the seminars in the last year, or so. Any chance either of them would be a possibility? More than anything, I wanted to throw it out there just to see if there would be a positive response from others in this area that might justify considering it. Besides, it would bring you back to your old stomping grounds, right?

I would point out that not only do they have to have attended the seminar, but we also need them to have passed it, be teaching SS in their gym AND have a properly equipped gym. That being said, if such folks exist, and they can get in contact with Juli, then there's a good chance that a seminar will be coming - as long as everyone's happy with the arrangement and it makes sense to have a seminar in that location.

Phew! I covered the requirements above so no need to rehash. I don't recall anyone from Minnesota attending a seminar. Rob Duggan, who runs North Loop Fitness in Mpls, was here for a roundtable event. He's a cool dude who seems to run a nice gym within running distance (and I HATE running) of Nye's. It's where I send people who are looking for a place to train in the area.

I think you mean 'eh?' instead of 'right?', eh? Also, tell your wife it was in the 1-teens for four months here last summer. It was hell on earth. I advise northerners to avoid such nonsense. I agree with you though, it would be great to get a Minnesooooota gym owner to get on board and invite us up with the right conditions. Coming back to the stomping grounds is always a blast! Keep spreading the word and hopefully we'll see you at a future seminar.

Hi Julie. It's Chris H., aka "Tosh" from your Valentine's 2011 deadlift/squat/bench seminar. I went to a 3hr seminar on snatch and clean/jerk today with a lifting coach from south Texas. She was good, but it really made me miss your seminar and your way of teaching/coaching lifts. I hope you are able to put on a small seminar sometime on those pulling lifts sometime. I've been holding out for a year! I'd happily drive up there again! Hope you're well.

Hey Tosh! I sent you a pm. It's really tough to fit in another camp with standing, Saturday sessions. I'll do my best but no promises. In the meantime, always know that you can schedule a session with me. Just call me at the gym or text me at 320-296-9313.
