    Default Wedding rings?

Married folks - do you remove your wedding ring to lift? Mine is a challenge to remove, but I'm getting an unpleasant callous and scuffing the ring pretty badly.

I lift in the basement, so Mrs. S won't think I'm up to anything if I change my 24x7 habit, but if I can avoid the problems with some kind of glove or tape that would be better.

(I know this isn't a real Geezer topic, but the concentration of marrieds has got to be highest here).

I don't wear any rings when lifting. Mineral oil, lotion or liquid soap should help to remove the ring and a good jeweler can usually polish the scuffs out.

My father removes his. It jams and cuts into his finger.

Show the damage to your wife first and explain why you're removing it. Otherwise you're in for a world of shit when she finds out you've changed your 24-7 habit. Women have fantastic eagle eyes for that stuff - better than they can see poop skid marks in the toilet bowl.

No rings when lifting here either. Your wife should understand if you are working out at home. I would think common sense would prevail there

I've always taken mine off when lifting (or even when moving large things around in general) as it tends to get caught on things. My wife also takes her rings off when lifting, too.

When i used to work a job with heavy lifting my wedding ring ended up like a 20p (octagon, hectagon or whatever - it wasn't round no more) so i'd take it off t otake care of it if nothing else.

And a trick a jeweller once showed me: pull the metacarpophalangeal knuckle skin back (where you punch with) before trying to take the ring off, it tightens the skin at the next knuckle (where rings commonly get stuck) to help it slide off and not pinch

I always take mine off, the deadlift in particular tears the ring up pretty bad. My wife usually lifts with me, and I've gotten her to take hers off as well. When we're done with the workout and I'm putting my ring back on, she'll sometimes say "so we're married again now?". :-)
