Deadlift form check
http://www.youtube.com/user/teriyaki.../8/pV4fvxji-F4
My lower back has been hurting a few hours after i do the deadlifts. For me, it feels very awkward doing deadlift in these non round plates, but my college only has these. Also, I think my lower back is too weak. My squat at its best was 230 1x5, but deadlifts was 225 1x5(back hurt after =[ ). I think i should try to lower the weight and reset at around 155 ? Any help would be appreciated.

You're rounding your lower back. This could be an issue of strength, or you may just need to lower your butt a bit more when you set-up. I'd try lowering your butt and concentrating on holding your back in extension.

Hips are too low. Back is not extended.

D:. I just got 2 different replies. Hips are too low, or hips are too high? Hmm maybe I should experiment with this next week? and do you guys have any advice for making my back go into extension?

Carlos lifts more than I do, so I'd probably listen to him. As far as extension goes, part of it is just concentration. Rip has a video (http://startingstrength.com/index.ph...sition_control) that will help some.
How are your deads without the belt? I actually found that the belt made it harder for me to hold extension on deadlifts when I first started using one.

ahh, my deads are actually not very good at all. i havn't taped my self without a belt. But I think im going to reset on deadlifts. thanks for the advice, ill post another video next week.

I'm positive the hips are too low. I might have more experience but my lifts are not necessarily the gauge to measure this.
This is evident by the fact that the hips rise right before the bar leaves the floor. The main problem is really extension. Really focus on extending your back. When you do and you're ready to pull, extend it even more. Then some more. When you feel like a bent beam of steel and you're somewhat uncomfortable, lift, KEEPING the tension.

I just looked at a couple of your squat videos and it looks like you loose extension toward the end of several of the sets. As Carlos said above, really put your mind into the extension. If you feel like you need to drop a few pounds off of the bar to facilitate this, go ahead.

Thanks a lot for the input guys. Ill definitely try to keep my lower back in extension when I squat/deads. Will put up a new video next week if i can.

And wow, I just finished watching the video. And I have no control at all in regards to back extension, but what Rip says helps. Maybe this will be the end of my back pain
