No rest between warm up sets, other than time to load the bar. then rest as needed with work sets. my last workout looked like 45x5,145x5,255x3,355x1,445 3x5 I am 6'/44/290. just ended LP and only squatting heavy like this once per week now. and that only took like 20minutes.
I'm like the opposite... I started timing myself because I'd feel fine after a few minutes and then fail my next set on the 4th or 5th rep. When I started timing myself I realized I was only resting 1 or 2 minute at the most. Now I force myself to wait 5mins for worksets minimum.
This. Not that I'm really lifting heavy weight yet, so it might get different but I just hit 215lb today. I do 2x5 bar, 1x5 95lbs, 1x3 135lbs, 1x2 170lbs. Only rest I took was 30 seconds after the 170lb and switching the weights (which I do as quickly as possible). Its a warm-up, what are you recovering from?
I do no rest between the warm up sets, and maybe a 2-3 minute rest between the last (somewhat heavy) warmup and the first work set. Work sets I do 5-7 minutes between. I want to move weight, not develop my recovery capability.-
So warmups maybe 5 minutes total, and then 3 work sets with 7 minutes between is still about 20-21 minutes total.
If you're fresh off an injury it's not a problem taking a little more rest in between sets. But like everyone said, if you're looking to shave off time do it in between the warm ups. My volume squat worksetsI typically rest 3:30 after first set, 5:00 after second, 6:30 after third, 8:00 after fourth and then I'm done after the 5th set. Takes a while..
I would do no more than four warm up sets. Something like 5,4,3,2 reps or something like that. And then your work sets. Stretch in between sets or run in place (walk around).

maybe you're doing too much warm up sets? if you do, use this for calculating your warmups I used to do too much warm up before, that both wasted energy and time.
