Lucky day indeed. I honestly just got done ordering the B&R bar from Rogue Fitness (shipping it to the Minnesota border actually will save me money) and I see your post. Registration paid in full :-D
Thanks for the heads up, I'm registered. Can't wait.
I realize the Toronto event is several months away, but things are shaping up to be quite busy for me and the Mrs. this spring/summer so the more planning I can get done and out of the way, the less stressed I'll be. I was searching for some instructions on what to do/bring while attending an event and stumbled upon this thread.
In that thread Steve in ATL mentioned receiving instructions upon registering. I registered for the Toronto session on Saturday night and in my confirmation no details were given regarding the seminar were given. I've also checked the seminar page on the Aasgaard Company's website, but all that did was link me to the Seminar forums and I didn't see anything in their FAQ or Q&A that mentioned seminars. For some reason the Aasgaard site is blocked at work, so I had to do some browsing on my Nexus so I may have missed something.
We were planning to stay with the Mrs.' sister, but she lives by Toronto Western Hospital which seems like it will be a pain getting to Friday night's session during rush hour and slightly less of a pain on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Does anyone know what sort of instructions I should have received when I registered?
Alex - I'm hoping you can recommend a hotel that is really close to your facility so I can begin making preparations.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hey Mr_Rogers.
I also got my payment confirmation but no other details. I'm guessing those will come later.
I definitely would not stay in Toronto either. Going west on the 401 in the evening means moving at a snail's pace.
There are some hotels in the local Mississauga area that should be just fine. Nothing fancy but the price will probably be decent.
Hotels near Element CrossFit
9-11 MinutesAvg $85/night - Monte Carlo Inns - Directions
7-10 Minutes Avg $100/night - Admiral Inn - Direction
5 Minutes Avg $101/night - Hilton Garden Inn - Directions
5 Minutes Avg $109/night - Fairfield Inn - Directions
7-10 Minutes Avg $110/night - Holiday Inn - Directions
5 Minutes Avg $112/night - Country Inn Oakville - Directions
Hopefully one of those will suit your budgetary needs
As for instructions they usually send out a month or two before the seminar.
There will be a form for you to fill out with more information about yourself and return. Aside from that all you need to bring is:
- an appetite
- lifting gear (shoes/belt/shirt with cool lifting slogan)
- a pen (I'll have pens here too if you forget)
- copy of SSBBT3 if you want it autographed...
You'll get a binder with the material for the weekend where you can take notes when you sign in.
Lastly, in addition to the schedule on the registration page there is usually a group dinner with Rip and the coaches on Saturday night, if you're one of those people who likes to wear pretty clothes to a fairly generic restaurant this is the day to bring them.
Thanks for all that information Alex. I appreciate you taking the time to scout out all those hotels.
If tonight's workout was any indication I think Rip and the coaches will have their work cut out for them :-)
Is anyone from Western/Central NY planning to attend the July seminar in Mississauga? I would like to carpool if possible. Drive up on the 26th and get a group rate at a hotel? I live in Webster, just East of Rochester.
Cheers.........Jake
Thank you for the useful information Alex.
I will be coming from Finland and I will not unfortunately have a car. I was interested in the public transport in Mississauga and Toronto. How easy is it to get around? Is it possible to get a ride when people are going to eat at Saturday night?
Anyway I am more that excited to see Canada which I have never visited. I thought even reserving few extra days to see Canada.
