Default Doyle Kenady's Photo SS 3rd Ed

    Rip,

On page 97 of SS 3rd edition is Doyle Kenady's photo of him completing a deadlift. It appears his head is tilted up as his eyes appear to be closed at the top. My question is - what happened to the rest of his face? Did the photo get smudged?

You didn't know? Doyle doesn't actually have a face. This is really awkward...

It's his beard that's covering most of his face.

Anybody else notice that the caption has the lifters listed in reverse? Something to fix for the 4th ed.

The beard is the secret of Doyle's strength.

Well now, it's actually the direction that's backwards. "Left to right" looks exactly like "right to left" or at least is interpreted that way with the proper amount of work and -sleep. Try it.

Whether you reverse the names of the lifters or reverse the direction, you accomplish the same thing: fixing a simple mistake. Not sure why the snide rebuke was necessary, I was just trying to help out, or at least would be interpreted that way by most people... Pleasantness, try it.

It will be corrected. Don't take offense, she made a mistake during a 21-hour day, as did all of our proofreaders.

Funny thing: in med school, we are used to looking at an x-ray or examining a patient and think of our right side as the left side of the x-ray or patient (since they are both facing us). A friend of mine pointed the mistake in the book, when I went to check it I thought "left to right... well, there's nothing right, look, left (pointing to the right) to right (pointing to the left)". It seemed like the most natural thing ever.
