    Default Yet another squat check!

Hey Rip, I was wondering if you (and any other forum members) would mind checking my squat form. Criticize freely! Thanks a lot!

Just in case people are curious:

I've been on the program for 6 weeks now. I'm 5'11" started at 212 lbs. I now weigh 228 lbs and my stats are as follows.

    (all are in lbs)

    Squat 275 up from 135
    Deadlift 300 up from 135
    Bench 165 up from 95
Shoulder Press 135 (did 1x5, 1x4, 1x3 last work out) up from 75

Been doing 10 lbs increments on all exercises, although it looks like I'll have to drop down the shoulder presses to 5lb increments.

All in all, this is an amazing program, and I want to thank you for it!

Fix your stance. A tad more narrow and rotate your heels in. Set your back...http://startingstrength.com/index.ph...sition_control. I guess no one wants to do that today.

Thanks! Could this be the reason I have this obnoxious tightness in my lower back? I feel it to the left and right sides of my lower back. I'll be sure to try and fix it during my workout today. Any more input would be greatly appreciated.

Is it just me or is your right heel coming off the floor?

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand what you mean by "caving". Would you mind explaining it?

It does seem like it. I don't recall feeling that way during the squat, but I'll keep it in mind. I'll probably drop the weight to something more comfortable and work on my form. Thanks for the input. Thank you too tiburon.

it is moving inward (technically knee adduction?). keep your knees fucking JAMMED OUT. have someone yell at you. or better yet film a squat directly from the back and compare to someone with rock solid form

    good luck

I see exactly what you were saying tiburon. I watched the video of Rip doing 315x10 and his knees don't start to move back until he's out of the hole. Thanks a lot!

I also recorded from the side and noticed that the bar was not moving in a vertical path. It had a tendency to move forward as I squatted down. The solution to this problem seemed to be to lower the bar on my back. It just feels uncomfortable as hell though. I'm thinking as soon as I get more flexible it will feel ok.
