    Default That Vegetarian Guy's Log

    Introduction:

I'm almost 20 years old and live in England. I'm 189cm, which is just under 6'3. I'm not sure how much I weigh currently but it's probably in the low 80kgs.

I've been training since last February but ended up half-assing it towards the latter half of that year, so please forgive my low numbers (especially as I'm coming back from a long break after moving/starting new job).

And yes, I'm a vegetarian. I'll be eating 10+ eggs a day and about 8 pints of milk a day (around a gallon) plus lots of peanut butter.

    Anyway, my first workout:

    MONDAY 20TH FEB 2012

    Squats
    92.5kg: 5, 5, 5

    Bench press
    60kg: 5, 5, 5

    Power cleans
    60kg: 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

In a couple of weeks I'll alternate power cleans with deadlifts and add in chin ups and pull ups

Eating-wise I had to get rid of my boiled eggs because they were undercooked... god I hate boiled eggs. Also my coworkers don't like the smell so I can't eat them at the office lol. I think I'm just gonna cook them at home and eat half of my 10-12 a day before the gym and half at night. Maybe not ideal but it'll have to do.

Weighed myself yesterday and found I'm at 79kg. Hugely depressing, that's a 7kg drop in weight since the peak of my training, at least 3 of which must be lean muscle mass. Fuel for my motivational fire, I guess.

    WEDNESDAY 22ND FEBRUARY 2012

    Squats
    95kg: 5, 5, 5

    Press
    35kg: 5, 5, 5

    Deadlifts
    115kg: 5, 3

First time trying the press as described in the 3rd edition of SS... very enjoyable. Think it went well! Did several sets with the bar then did sets of 5 with 5kg increases, leaving me at 35kg

Found myself having trouble getting in the correct position during deadlifts after the first rep. I don't want to have to let go of the bar and reset fully between reps but I'll have to figure something out as after my 1st rep all other reps made it impossible to keep the bar close to my legs... obviously a bad starting position going on there. Did a quick 3 reps after my 5 to try and work on that

Yes sir! I'm hoping that by making my lifting public I can get bullied into performing better if my progress is bad.

Did you say your brother (or brother in law?) was thinking of starting training?
I see you have a log also. I will check it out!

My brother-in-law is thinking about it. He's trying to convince my sister-in-law that they should buy a home gym, but she's not entirely sold on the idea. IMO it's the best investment I've made so I hope he does it. The guy is like all bones though, skinny jeans look like parachute pants on him.

Ooo I see! What's she against: the money being spent or having all the equipment in the house/garage?

Haha skinny jeans look really awful on people with skinny legs. I know people hate them but I remember when I used to be into skateboarding seeing chris cole wearing skinny jeans and he looked pretty radddd in them with his muscley legs

    FRIDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 2012

    Squats
    97.5kg: 5, 5, 5

Squats were fine. I filmed my last set and found I really seem to drop into the reps. It's interesting because that's supposed to cause you to lose tightness and make the reps harder but mine were definitely easier doing this

    Bench press
    62.5kg 5H, 5, 5

Bench press was way too hard for the weight that it was. I barely got my 5th rep on the first set (hence the 'H' for hard). Will probably get to around 67.5-70kg before I move to 1kg increments

    Power cleans
    62.5kg 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

Power cleans were easy, kept touching my legs with the help of my lats

Next week I'll add chin ups and this weekend get intimate with the 3rd edition. Also bought 72 eggs tonight. Will be getting my protein this week!

Ahhhh so I'm not alone! Hey there

And you're a girl? Most on this forum would say you've got your work cut out for you but I'll just say good luck and let's prove them wrong

edit: just checked out your log and see you're pretty strong already!

Yep, very much a girl. If the vegie/vegan threads are anything to go by, I think most on this forum would call me an idiot and laugh in my face (especially since I was (gasp) vegan for while) but hey, I don't think I'm doing too badly for seven months in.

Thanks, got a long way to go yet, kind of hoping to one day get a 500lb dead, we'll see.
