    Default Fats

    My current daily intake is at:
    3,000 cals (a bit over actually)
    230-250g protein
    80-100g carbs
    160-190g fats

    All from the usual sources of eggs, meat, peanut butter, rice, sweet potato, apples, whey, etc.

    My question is whether this is too much fat or not?

    I'm getting ~30g of fat per meal, most of it from the eggs and beef. Not sure how to keep protein up without also keeping fat up.

    I severely dislike eating mass amounts of chicken and fish. If this is indeed too much fat, would switching to 90/10 or 93/7 lean beef do the trick?

    Obligatory stats are as follows:
    6' 1 1/2", 255lbs, 25ish% bf
    Currently going through novice progression
    Squat 185---->265 (all figures are in lbs, and for sets across except the deadlift)
    Press 100----->125
    Bench 155---->175
    Deadlift 315---->350
    Trying to get strong without increasing the already admirable size of my belly and love handles too much.

    Edit post function not working. I was going to add to my stats that I have only been on the novice progression for a month, so I'm trying to get the diet right before I get much further into the program.

    How much sleep, how old, other stressors (physical and mental)?

    8 - 8.5 hrs sleep pretty consistently. Usually get woken up once or twice in the night by my crying 1 month old.

    24 yrs old

    No physical stressors other than training really. Mentally, nothing other than paying the bills, changing diapers, training, and keeping up with schoolwork is stressful.

    Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? This is a decent amount of stress. I would look at reducing the stress from these things (mediation, trying not to get stressed, etc. I'm sure you can find more things online). Stress and it's affects on cortisol will keep the fat around your midsection.

    Your diet looks fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Cool.

    The fat around my midsection isn't that bad. I suppose I exaggerated. Just a little fluff is all.

    It's not great either. Don't beat yourself up about it, but don't think you can slack either. Balance is the key.

    You'll be fine. If you start to stall and you aren't gaining weight and feel okay, eat more fat and protein. If you start feeling run down, try some more carbs.

    Oh I know it's not great. That's why I'm at 3k cals and asking about my macros instead of 4k + GOMAD like my skinny novice counterparts who need that.

    Speaking of the kid, take the wife (I'm assuming) and the kid for a 30 minute walk on your off days. This will help with stress, recovery and help take off a bit of the fat.

    The weather's getting nicer fast so that will definitely happen.

    Also, around early to mid april I will probably start a sprint regimen. A little bit of beach work is necessary
