More Bourbon Please
I was fortunate to be the recipient of these fine gifts at work. They are for my team and we cracked open the Blanton's Thursday evening. It was gorgeous of course. Don't know what the deal is with this Willett's though-- I asked for it since I saw Rip got a case of the stuff, but this is some special bottle that I've never seen-- stoked to open it, but have to wait until Monday now!

Rip brought me a bottle of the Willett when he was just here, but the bottle looks like this:

It is awesome, but it needs a little water.
I have to say, I prefer Makers 46 or Buffalo Trace to Blanton's.

I picked up a bottle of that Willett at Costco a few months ago. A little cloying and syrupy if I recall, but I finished it without complaint.
If y'all wanna make this bourbon thread go I can certainly see my way to buying American. I know the bourbon drinkers run pretty thick here at ss.com, surely there's more?

For some reason I haven't bought buffalo trace yet. I'll do that. I basically buy a different one every month so I taste more of a range, but my go-to bourbon is Bulliet.
Blantons is overpriced, but I am quite enjoying it. The Willett I got must be some special small batch.
Speaking of Maker's 46, this was fun:

Tried the Buffalo Trace last night. Not bad. A bit harsh at first, but I had a big ice cube in it and after a couple of minutes it was quite nice. Prefer Makers or Bulliet, but more tasting is required, clearly.

Buffalo Trace is the smoothest drinking "mass produced" bourbon I've encountered, I totally don't follow any claim of harshness. I won't say it's the absolute best, but Buffalo Trace definitely scratches every bourbon itch I get and has a flavor profile that really appeals to me.
The Bulleit bourbon is pretty bland in my opinion. I had a really, really good bottle of the rye, and I gave it high praise for a long time. The next couple bottles I bought, though, were not nearly of comparable quality, so I've since adjusted my expectations down a bit.
Buffalo Trace and Rittenhouse are my go-to sipping whiskeys right now, and I feel like both are outstanding values.
