It is thicker and wider than a dip belt. And has longer straps to keep the chains off the thighs. Plus it can sit lower on the hips so the lumbar isn't being pulled in too much. Dip belts can work but not as well as an actual squat belt, which is more comfortable for dips as well.

I think this was just before I received my MantaRay. Yeah, it was 3 days before.

They are ugly as hell but, it's without the MantaRay. I'll try it with my warm up weight tomorrow.
Your "ugly" squat looks better than almost all the squats i see dudes doing in the gym

I was thinking of Louie simmons searcher squat device. It might be good for training.

This may or may not be helpful, but NASA allows the "Top Squat" device in their "Masters Evolution" division (if you meet the age requirements for that division).

I think the best solution is to find a meet that isn't USAPL/IPF. They take all the fucking fun out of lifting weights. You can't total in a meet anyways so what the fuck does it matter if you use a Manta Ray? I can say with 99% certainty that if you wanted to compete in the WPC meets I do that they would let you do it with the manta ray and cheer you on the whole time.

The IPF are notorious for being fucking miserable to deal with, try and find a meet with any other fed, preferably one that has a multi-ply division. There it's always more about getting together and having a good time lifting instead of BS politics.
