Andy,
Do you have your clients increase the weights on volume day at the same rate as on intensity day? Some recommend only increasing every other or every third week for volume day.
Thanks.

For a while yes. We increase weights on both days. As program gets harder we slow down progression on volume day
dont mean to highjack this, but what percentage do you use for volume? is 5x5 approximately 80% of 3x5?
From my own(live) experience on TM, you should start light and get used to the high volume, bombing out in week 5 would suck.
First volume days should be intense and quick, don't waste your time on long rests.
Start off with like 45lbs lower than your best 3X5, on the first 2-3 weeks go up with 5-7.5 lbs on VM.
Should look like that:
Example for a 315 3X5:
Week 1:270 5X5
W2: 277.5 5X5
W3: 285 5X5
W4: 292.5 5X5
W5: 300 5X5
W6: 305
Go on up with 5lb jumps.
Once the volume is too hard to accomplish lower one set, should be around week 7-10, depending on how high you started.
Once you get stuck with 4 sets, you can keep the weights going, if the intensity sets are going up well, just stick to what's working.
I found that with programs like TM, you MUST start messing with your own periodization one way or another and start to know what's working for you and what's not
325 for singles and 250x5x5???? That what you are asking.
Yes....the other major factor is what I SEE from my trainee.
Guys.....programming cannot be done on an EXCEL spreadsheet. It is NOT that formulaic.
At some point, a form of auto-regulation, maybe through an RPE scale, seems appropriate. I think that means you have to really be objective (most probably need a coach for this) about your training and progress.
Andy?
