Thread: EFS belt vs. Toro belt (both levers)

  1. #1

    Default EFS belt vs. Toro belt (both levers)

    Here's the EFS one: http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...&m=PD&pid=5506

    Toro(red one if it matters): http://www.titansupport.com/products...ever-belt.html

    Don't worry about the Toro one being out of stock on their site, I've found a Canadian reseller.

    I need input on the 2 belts. Both are levers. The main difference is the thickness (other than the brand, obviously). The EFS one is 8mm (which I've never heard of) vs. 10mm on the Toro. How much of a difference does this make? I have a velcro belt and was hoping for an upgrade once weights got ridiculously hard.

    Price would probably work out to the same after customs on the EFS one.

    An 8mm lever belt seems kind of like a paradox.

    Also, if you are coming from a velcro belt you may miss the lack of tightness settings. Perhaps a regular buckle would be better so you can choose tightness based on each lift. You can get quick release buckle types which are easy to undo.

    I don't mind the screwdriver; makes me feel cool. Like Iron Man.

    I don't see the paradox; unless it's that the point of a leather belt is that it's thick and unforgiving, 8mm (less than usual) opposes that notion.

    I have the toro, the blue one, if that matters.

    The toro is the shit, just make sure you don't thread your screws. I use it for squats, press, bench. I haven't really used a belt for deadlifts enough to give an opinion on how good it works with deads. I have it the same tightness setting for all exercise's I perform, so the only adjusting I do is when I get fatter or skinnier.

    I have the EFS belt, it has plastic in the center. I don't recommend it because of that fact. The Toro one appears to be all leather, looking at the picture.

    @Uncle Carl

    Yep, actually I just read that here an hour ago: http://homemadestrength.blogspot.ca/...-carrying.html

    Although according to your username (Uncle Carl) and the name of the dude who runs that site (Carl) along with the fact that Starting Strength is listed as one of the websites you should check out (on the right side of the website) you may know about that article seeing as it may belong to you.

    I guess I can thank you personally for it here, thanks.
