Default Anybody here play a ukulele?

I've played guitar for about 12 years or so, and recently picked up 2 ukes. A soprano and a tenor.

They are super fun, and sound a lot better than my preconceived notion about all ukes sounding crappy and toy-like.

    EDIT:

Here's some of my favorite Uke links:

As a matter of fact, I do. The soprano ukes look comically small against my SS hugeness.

    They are good fun.

That's Israel Kamakawiwo'ole btw, if you haven't heard his cover of Over the Rainbow go check it out. You're not human if it doesn't bring a tear to your eye.

my mom and dad both did. really used to surprise me when my dad would pick one up.
He was the silent military type. then all the sudden would start a little jam on one of our many ukes.
There is a guy - I forget his name- but he is a virtuouso uke player who does all sorts of unlikely stuff on the uke- you know who Im referring to?

Also- next time Im in london definitely want to check out that uke shop. wouldn't mind an electric or banjo uke.

EDIT- what the fuck am I writing- yall just made three posts about him- that guy is really amazing.

Pretty decent rendition. The video I saw was a little disturbing. Didn't really want to see him with his shirt off.

Here's a little ukelele action that you shouldn't miss either.

I've enjoyed watching some uke cover songs on youtube. These might be gayish to some, but I thought they were well done:

And many of the entries for the Bushman contest, such as this one:

That's awesome, but I think my dreams of ever being a virtuoso are shattered.
