The way the analogy fits is that you can either take this as a casual thing or go kuku for coco puffs and spend your time on this like any other hobby that gets people through life.

FYI: judo, bjj and a lot of the karate schools were actually founded by young guys.

    poor analogy

pre-black belt is akin to simply learning the lifts

black belt onward is akin to actually starting the program with the fundamental techniques learned

Could a black belt be analogous to a 1200 total? 1200 total where the real learning and lifting begins?

See, I disagree with this. OP should continue to get stronger so that he improves his strneght levels and continues to look better, if that is his main goal. It has been my experience, and that of most on these boards, that training to improve strnegth is what best yields improvements in aesthetics (all things being equal with body fat levels). In other words, the OP will look better at 170 pounds than he does at 150. The way to get to 170 is to get stronger. Training easy in the mistaken belief that light weights will yield body mass increases (see the recently published stoopid study stating this, discussed briefly in Rip's thread) will not and does not cause improvements in body composition and muscularity. So, if the OP wants to improve his aesthetics (and who the hell ever looks "good enough"?) he should continue to improve his strnegth levels. It's also healthier to be stronger due to denser bones, stronger heart, etc.

Finally, if one does get cancer or some other bad disease, being larger/stronger and more muscular means that you have more tissue to give up when the inevitable wasting away occurs, which means you will have longer to live and/or a better quality of life for longer. This applies equally to aging. Absent injury, a guy who squatted 500 pounds in his 40s but who suffered age related wasting is probably stronger and more vital at 80 than some guy who only squatted 200 in his forties. I don't know about you but I still want to be active in my old age. Make hay while the sun shines.
All i was saying is that driving very hard and being determined for the OPTIMAL gains on a SS type program will involve fat gain as leangains are incredibly tough. and for every 1lb of muscle you will gain probably 1lb of fat.

Without sounding silly it is generally considered that swimmers and football (english) players etc have the most aesthetically desirable bodies to women. its not my opinion (personally dont have a vagina) but surveys always say the same thing.

They are not built heavy and so if the OP already has a certain LBM then that is good enough for a beach body. So if he wanted a body for the beach then once you reach a certain size of muscles/LBM it all becomes about losing BF and sculpting what you have.

then you can look like him:

    Rather than Him:

What YOU think is the better looking body doesnt always correlate to what them girls want (i note the statistically average girl, not necessarily the ones youd want to date)

I'd guess it depends more on natural body size than martial arts, in that some 6'6", 260lb guy could potentially start around blackbelt in this analogy (because us shortarses have to work harder for it than natural big guys!)

EDIT: with regards to Beckham - are anyone else's nipples falling off their chest?

1200 isn't the equivalent of a black belt because, even in those shitty McDojos, at the very least, a black belt takes a few years to get.

Doesn't mean the black belt is worth a damn, there are 1000s of black belts out there who would get completely wore out by a HS wrestler. At least a 1200 total means you put the weight on your back and lifted it.

Bagging on the 1200 total on a novice lifting site again? You're bordering on full blown troll territory now Tom.
