    Andy

Is there a way of programming to reduce time between reps on the deadlift?

My second set takes 10 to 30 seconds between reps, which according to Rip is too long.

It takes me ages to get my breath back and be happy I can pull without endangering an old disc bulge.

Is it a reset? Reduce to doubles or triples and build back up to sets of five? Somthing else?

    Many thanks.

    Advance novice routine, 6foot, 194lb, 40yrs, pulling 292lb.

A set of 5 should be done at about this pace.

If you can't do it, then yes, perhaps reset. If you were pulling heavier weight, I would have you maybe switch to just pulling singles, but you have another 100 lbs of progress left in you :-)

Nice friggin set. I noticed some of the bigger stronger guys roll the bar before they pull, I'm going to have to try that.

    Andy,

I can assure you, my set looks nothing like that!! My breathing and level of self control is more akin to a bishop in a whore house.

    Many thanks.

Start trying to make your set look like these then.
