My 2 cents.
Food is fuel for the body. The kind of fuel that the body needs is determined by what that particular body has to do in the course of the day. What works for Peter can't work for Paul. Health problems usually arise when there is a mismatch between fuel quality/quantity intake and bodily needs.
And just as there isn't anything like fitness in general - fitness is always specific to what one wants to be fit to do - I would say that the same applies to being strong. Strong for what?
I would say that the food/diet questions can be answered only once these are, and can't have generalized answers. Also, since what the body is tasked to do are different things at different times in life, the answers would keep changing over time.
You guys think this shit is bad? My new roommate reads BodyBuilding.com. I literally have to live with this shit.
I agree with turgid.dahlia. I used to live in NYC. There was plenty of fast food joints, but there were plenty of sidewalks. I use to train and then take long walks. Nothing like walking in NYC and being entertained by the everyday freakshow. Now I live just outside Syracuse. And if you don't have a car, you're pretty much fucked. If you walk, good chance you will get hit. Hence the Prowler for some conditioning. Strength training is not rocket science and neither is nutrition to fuel that strength.
Don't take anything for granted just because it's "scientific". Especially when the author makes a shitload of $$$ with it. Learn to second guess anything you come across and to consider different sources.
...I actually bought the book a while back. It's suggestion of high protein diet from ANY source (animal/veg) is bad seemed quite tedious.
...Also, it's recommendation the next time you order a pizza 'make it cheese free and meat free ' --really why fucken bother ordering one in the first place ???
Let me die a few years earlier and keep the cheese.
