    With paused bench the connection is very clear, as you need to pause in competition. With "paused squats" I sort of assumed box squats which is very popular with american (and particularly geared) powerlifters. I know Bill Starr did recommend paused back squats amongst the many things he liked, but I feel pausing a squat is much more about assisting the squat than building general strength & mass which is better served with the benefit of the greater weights allowed by a full eccentric and use of stretch reflex.

    Pause squats and box squats are not the same thing.

    There is nothing about pause squats that limit their depth.

    "use of stretch reflex."

    Except that the stretch reflex can reduce the strength in the ROM that the bounce covers.

    And yes, cheat curls are 10X the movement of a 'preacher' curl and 100X a concentration curl.
