How many of you over 50 do a split (upper or lower) or full body? what have you found works best for you?

I've only been on Starting Strength for 15 weeks, so long term experience is yet to come. At 52, I'm quite pleased to find that I'm still able to grow stronger on the Novice program. However, I find increasing weight on both the squat and deadlift is too great a stress on my joints.

What appears to be working for me, is a staggered increase. I worked the squat up to 225 and then reset back to 185. At the same time, I continued to increase my deadlift. When my deadlift reached 325 and the squat was up to 240, I reset the deadlift back to 225 and continued to increase my squat. If all works well, the squat and deadlift will meet at 315. At which point, I'll reset the squat and work on getting to 405 on the deadlift.
