He's got no shot or the US men don't have any olympic competitors?

The US team hasn't a hope of fielding anyone who will even place.

Population sizes apart - Its worse in the UK.

    Men's 94kg - Peter Kirkbride : 335kg total. whereas Ilin and Ivanov have done 407 and 403.

Media go on about Zoe Smith (womens 58kg): total of 204kg whereas the Chinese athlete did 244kg, although she is still very young the A standard is 205 so she hasnt qualified for London

Kendrick's best total in the 85s is 362kg and the WR set in Bejing was 394kg

    That's not true.
She did 92 and 116 at the Euros, a total of 208. She will be at the Olympics by right.

Dont forget people are getting sanctioned left, right and centre for PED's these days. A US competitor with reasonable total could get elevated to a much better position. A medal might be a little hopeful though.

Any more info on what happened? It looked like he was significantly off on his lifts but I thought he might have already got inside info that he was "in" so he coasted a little. His last attempt on the C&J looked weird when I watched it. He acted like something went wrong with his right wrist.

I thought from the Pendlay update that Donny was the guy who earned the US men a shot but he injured his back in the process. He continued anyway because he wanted to earn the US a shot and was the best hope for it?

If you just look at british weightlifting association on facebook you would know Zoe had earned a place.

Donny was injured prior to Nationals and spent some time at the OTC after Nationals, despite the opinions of some close advisors. Short story: he left the OTC to go back to California before Pan Ams to try to salvage what he could, but the damage had already been done. Donny's a great guy, an amazing lifter, and a wonderful human being. He's been an asset to the US, and many of us hate to see him have to throw himself under the bus for the team like he did. There are many who wouldn't have had the courage to do what he did, and he will always have a place at our table.
