Default Hand/Finger Numbness & loss of Strength

Have any of you ever experienced hand and finger numbness/tingling on your hand which resulted in loss of strength? In example: trouble picking up/gripping things with that particular hand.

I am asking you all because I'm worried about my girlfriend - she is experiencing exactly that and we are looking for solutions. She drops things from time to time because of the numbing sensation. She tells me that her "bad" right hand is really weak compared to her left one.

Can't go to the doctor all the time because it costs too damn much...she has no insurance...

Fortunately, her lab work showed up clean and normal so it is not a metabolic thing. And the carpel tunnel test turned out negative. So, our hunch is that it is a pinched nerve which probably resulted from too much stress on her behalf ( her father had a stroke and is in very bad shape...all this occurring at the same time her mother was diagnosed with kidney disease. she's on dialysis now. these two incidents caused some major emotional damage to my girlfriend)

Thanks in advance for your responses, I appreciate it.

Go definitely to the doctor. It is a red flag for more severe pathology and if it is really so and you wait for too long time her funtion of the hand can get lost. Don't wait for more progression of this.
    Best wishes

definitely go to a sports med doctor. I have had similar problems and most regular docs and orthopedics brush it off as carpal tunnel. The other doctors tell me to come back in 6 weeks if nothing has improved. It'll be expensive, I have no insurance either. It cost me 160 for the office visit and it would have cost 30 per x-ray.

Could be a cervical disc issue. I had a similar experience (still do sometimes, depending how I sleep) that was due to disc degeneration.

Going to the doc for this is good advice. Not something to mess with since it could be something much more serious.

I agree. Lost of strength and numbness are pretty clear neurological symptoms and warrant further investigation. Sure, going to the doctor is expensive, but losing function of your hand is probably gonna cost even more, financially or otherwise. My first pick would be a neurologist.

    Seriously, people.

There is a time when YOU MUST GO TO THE FUCKING DOCTOR WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE INSURANCE.

Loss of strength in a limb is a BIG. FUCKING. DEAL.

    Go to the doctor.
