I actually agree with his first post.
If he achieved his best lifts at 52 and those lift are 415 squat (etc.) than no wonder he increased oly lifts because he was weak when he was in his 30s. What's so interesting about that?
I didn't read article thoroughly tho, I admit.
Because he didn't read the article. So, he's arguing something that wasn't the point of the article. And, as bowdirk explained, Steve's "example" Olympic lifts are ridiculous given what competitive masters lifters in this country are actually doing.

    And, because Steve annoys me.

You also didn't clarify what you consider to be "low" numbers in the slow or the quick lifts (I admit that you weren't directly asked to do this). You also don't seem to be able to put facts into the appropriate context and evaluate them accordingly.
I can't put facts together that have not been shown to me. I clicked the only link I saw in that article for a log, and it didn't show any olympic lift numbers, so I had to infer what I thought his numbers could be based on his first workout:

    Bench Press: 170 x 5
    Squat: 220 x 5
    Deadlift: 335 x 5

I would be guessing his snatch was below 230 (probably 200 or less) and his clean & jerk was no more than 275 (but more likely 240 or less). 90/110 are low numbers for any olympic lifter who isn't a woman, in the big picture, meaning just getting stronger would make a big difference.

You are missing the fact that he was RESETTING in order to run LP, and that you purposefully start low. He addresses this in the article.

Also, you are out of touch with reality. 93 / 118 won Masters Nationals this year in his age and weight category (or 106 / 123 because I'm not certain of what weight class he'd choose at this point).

And, you still don't know what his actual numbers are. You're just making shit up based on his reset numbers.

The first post is a single quote from the article. You know, that article that you didn't read.

But, we already know that you are the king of pulling single quotes off the internet and using them out of context. You should really fix that problem.

Big surprise. Berryman is once again pontificating about shit that he didn't read or doesn't know anything about. Had he ever even heard of Staley before this?
