Buffalo Trace's White Dog is pretty tasty. I don't know if that counts as whiskey or not.

You had me there. I had to look that up. I've never heard of Sterno being called Squeeze. Must be a regional thing.

Technically, I suppose it is. I like about half a shot at a time.

Certainly any reasonable person would call it whiskey, provided it's not distilled into vodka purity territory (80+% ABV, i think), and restrictive cuts haven't been made on the backend of the hearts. Which they shouldn't be, as this stuff is supposed to go in barrels to make bourbon, right?

I bought the Heaven Hill white dog (rye mash bill, which ends up as Rittenhouse) for experimenting with, using different woods to age little jars of it. Good times, and a nice palette exercise.

I don't think 'white dog' or 'moonshine' have been subjected to any regulatory naming conventions yet. If anyone manages to make a decent showing in that market, I doubt this will remain the case.

Yep, Tersh is right. Wood must be involved to be whiskey.

By law, corn whiskey does not have to be aged if at least 80 percent of the mash is corn.

But Buffalo Trace's White Dog is not corn whiskey. White dog is a term for un-aged bourbon.

Right, but it's an example of a whiskey that can be called as such even if it's un-aged.

Mark, what is your opinion towards international whiskey? Ireland, Japan, Scotland, and whatever else.

I've grown fond of Islay whiskey, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy others.

Not really. Tersh is right: WHISKEY is aged in barrels, white dog is unaged and is therefore not WHISKEY.

I own about 50 whiskeys of various types and from various places. I have had a lot of whiskey. But I cannot figure out how the Canadians are such clueless people about how to make the shit. I have tasted quite literally NO Canadian whisky that was worth a second taste.
