    Thursday 7/19/12 10:00pm

    Ate literally nothing but some chips and quac right before lifting all day. Dehydrated.

    Squat: (45,95,135,185)x5; 205x3, 225x1
    250x5,5,5

    Press: 45x5, 65x5, 95x3
    115x5,5,5

    I'm doing press everytime as I have no bench yet. Interestingly, it keeps going up at 5lbs and actually feels like it is getting easier; I felt a stall coming on when I was going up 5lbs pressing every-other workout. I think maybe once I get a bench I may just focus on press and use bench as assistance doing 8's or 10's. I don't really care about the bench that much.

    Interesting! I also care more about my press, I hope yours continues climbing smoothly!

    Sleep, diet both decent. Weight 224. Crick in neck, but I'll live.

    SQ: 255x5,5,5
    Press:120x5,5,5 (keeps going)
    DL: 295x5 was pretty hard.

    Diet around 2500-3000 calories of mostly meat vegetables and fruit. Sleeping enough. Well hydrated. Weight 224.

    Squat: (45,95,135,185)x5; 225x3, 245x1
    260x5,5,5

    Press: (45,75)x5, 95x3, 115x1
    125x5,5,5

    Press keeps going 5lbs/workout, and I'm making the reps without undue struggle. Last time I reached this weight, it was only after a couple of resets and microloading 2.5lbs every other workout, and then barely making the reps.

    Had a big lunch today with pasta and cheesecake and roast beef and seafood. Workout was great. Correlation/causation? Weight 225 lbs.

    Squat: (45,95,135,185)x5; 225x3, 245x1
    - 265x5,5,5

    Press (45,75)x5, 95x3, 115x1
    - 130x5,5,5

    DL: (135,185)x5; 225x3, 275x1
    - 305x5

    I keep expecting to hit a wall because I'm really not eating enough but so far nope. Not complaining.

    Spent the day at the Speedway here in Indy with my son watching Nascar. Side note, Nationwide series races are a great deal. 25 bucks for the day, free parking, plenty of great seating. Lots of walking around in the sun and not enough water. Probably didn't eat enough either. So lousy workout tonight. More than worth it though.

    Sq: (45,95,135,185)x5; 225x3, 255x1
    - 270x5,5,5 - - Harder than it should have been

    Press: (45, 75)x5, 95x3, 115x1
    - 135x5,5,4 - - first set was a 1x5 PR, 2nd set was cheated and 3rd set was cheated and failed 4th rep. This definitely should not have been this hard with as good as progress hass been.

    There's always next time.

    Diet ok, decent amounts of protein. Weight 226. Incidentally, since I started this log my waist has shrunk a little and I've gained maybe a few pounds, so I'm recomping in the right direction. Will go on a serious diet soon once LP gains are exhausted.

    SQ: (45, 95, 135, 185)x5; 225x3, 255x1;
    - 275x5,5,5

    Press: (45, 85)x5; 105x3, 120x1;
    - 135x5,5,5 PR

    DL: (135, 185)x5; 225x3, 275x2, 295x1;
    - 315x3 fail

    I ordered a belt yesterday, and it can't get here soon enough. I think the DL failure may have been partly from exausting my back on squats. I've never gone this heavy before without using a belt at all; my 2 prior novice progessions I started using the belt around 225. BUT finally got my 1-plate 3x5 press and my first PR in a while.

    Thursday 8/2/12 9:00pm

    SQ: (45,95,135,185)x5; 225x3, 265x1
    - 280x5,5,5 Used a belt for the first time this go-round.
    Press: (45, 85)x5, 105x3, 120x1
    - 137.5x5,5,3 -failed last set.

    Now that progression is beginning to taper, I'm going on a diet. I'm just fatter than I can personally accept. Not to mention I have to wear suits to work and don't really feel like spending money on a new wardrobe. <200lbs by 10/1 is my goal. I'm going to keep adding weight to all my lifts, and when I start to fail, cut reps to 3x3 till that stops working, and then just adjust the poundage to whatever I can complete 3x3. Hopefully I don't lose too much strength.
