Thread: Squat/Deadlift the same lb..

    Default Squat/Deadlift the same lb..

Is it a problem that my squat and deadlift are currently at the same lb's? When I reduced to 5 lb jumps on the squat, I did the same for the deadlift and now both are at 205. Deadlifts haven't been nearly as exhausting as heavy squats so should I just revert back to 10 lb jumps for the deadlift? It seems like most peoples numbers are far apart in terms of those two exercises which is why I'm asking. I'm also without back extensions at this time and alternating power cleans/deads every workout.

Add 10lbs to your deadlift for as long as possible. Establish it out in front of your squat.

Agreed. Also, back extensions are not essential. I haven't done any in quite a long time and I haven't noticed any problems without them.

Before I dropped my squats to work on form, my deadlifts were behind my squats. My max squats were 235 with deadlifts 215 with a struggle and breaking form. I broke my hands recently so my deads are going to suffer yet again but I'm doing back extensions in the mean time so I'll have to see what it's like. When I first startedstarting strength I missed where you were supposed to so deadlifts every workout for a while before adding power cleans so that's why my squat got so far ahead.

Alright thanks...I did a ten pound jump today on deads with no problem. Unless I hang back on squats...they'll still be pretty even but hangin back is obviously not the best choice.

OP, i was trying to figure out why your username looked familiar... and it's because you started the Maximal Strength vs Hyperthrophy thread soon after you joined.

That thread featured both Matt Reynold's ranting about presses and the debut of loony hunter308...
    Good times.

I'm glad to report that i've since made Matt's Jr. High minimum since i can now press 135 (i finally hit 3x3x135 about 2 weeks ago) Sadly i don't know if i'll make the HS standard (150lbs) by the end of the year.

    then there's this:

and some of the last mentions of Marotta ...

i got all philosophical: "edit 2: i think that IRL Ice Man beats Maverick (in killing Migs not just in school) and Drago beats Rocky."

There's a post from TBone reminiscing about her basement gym.

and generally lots of other stuff. That thread was pretty epic.

This actually may be an option for me...I feel like my form isn't exactly there and i'm doing a more high/low bar hybrid rather than just low bar. Were you able to quickly recover your squat gains after going down? How much did you deload exactly?
