Default No pain, no problems: any point to seeing a chiro?

I've never seen a chiropractor in my life, as I've never had any reason to. But I'm wondering if there might be some kind of benefit for me to go for an appointment anyway. I work at a computer all week, and probably have terrible posture, and I wonder if a chiro could help with that.

Does anyone have any experience going to one of these guys 'just because?' Are you glad you went? What did they do and how did you feel better/worse?

In my opinion that'd be a big waste of money and time. Better to book yourself in for a sports massage every month or something.

    It's common sense man.

Beat me to it and I agree. 200 off the top for a chiro without insurance and 50 per session.

Massage - 60+- for an hour each time.

    Easy to decide.

Speaking of, my wife bought me a massage gift card, I'll be using that this weekend.

How is a sports massage comparable to a chiro? Do sports massages adjust the spine?

My insurance covers chiro. Not sure if it covers massage, but I'm guessing not. So a chiro will cost me $20.

    What say you now?

I don't go to my chiropractor unless I'm in pain, but that is going to change as soon as my schedule slows down a little. Each time I've ever gone, she has helped me out more than I could've imgained. It is well worth the $40. Mine is also a massage therapist, which is nice.

I suspect that many of the issued I've gone to her about were preventable if I would've kept regular appointments. But I don't go without a reason and it's hard to say whether any good can come from it if you don't have anything to tell the chiropractor. It may help stop future issues, it may not, it's impossible to say.

But for $20/visit it's worth a visit. You may even have a few kinks worked out that you've had so long you didn't even realize you had them. Worse case scenario, nothing changes and you wasted $20 to find that you didn't have any major issues.

If so, it's probably a muscle issue, not a spinal one. You'd be better off seeing a physical therapist who will help you loosen up and strengthen the relevant muscles.
