    Default Calorie dense foods

    My job is extremely physically demanding. When I'm doing good and hustling, I burn a huge amount of calories. I can eat over 3500 calories a day and still be losing weight. This is a problem because I'm trying to bulk right now. Most of my calories have to come after I get back from work because I don't want to be weighed down and sluggish with that much food while I need to be moving and working hard.

    I know steel cut oats are great. A small bowl of those is around 1000 calories. What about other foods? Bear in mind I still gotta get my protein, too.

    3500 calories isn't a lot really. If you are struggling to get enough in just find high calorie foods you like to eat. Also adding olive oil or butter to food you eat is an easy way to add calories.

    In addition to butter/oil suggestion, what about milk?

    Drinking calories seems to be easiest for me when I want to up intake.

    Yep that's a good one. Chocolate milk shake adds even more. There are so many ways to get a heap of calories in easily.

    Fry up some ground beef and cook some rice. Dump the ground beef (plus the fat that gets cooked off) into a bowl with the rice. Season to taste.

    Steel-cut oats ARE pretty great but 1 cup (uncooked) is only 600 calories (that's considered 4 servings). And that's about 4 cups cooked which is a pretty large bowl of dense oatmeal. If you cook that w/ milk or butter and/or sugar you can get to 1000 cals.

    This is easy.

    The average 14" pepperoni pizza is around 2600 calories. An XL papa johns is over 5000.

    An 18oz jar of peanut butter has around 3000 calories.

    A rack of ribs at outback is listed at around 1500 calories, so you could probably do better cooking your own ribs.

    A quart of trumoo is almost 900 calories.

    Hell, any decent trip to cracker barrel could probably net you a good 1500 calories minimum.

    Damn I'm getting hungry...

    EDIT: Oh and this hasn't even touched the fast food arena. A wendy's double baconator has 970 calories. I coulda swore they used to have triples though. Can't find it on the online menu though.

    In terms of calories:fullness I find that burgers from a fast food place are really good for getting calories in without ruining your appetite the rest of the day.

    I can eat 2 baconators after a workout and still feel like I have a bit of room. That's 2000 calories right there. Normally 1000 calories fills me the hell up if it's coming from meat and milk.

    Nuts. You could snack on handfuls of nuts all through the day, never get too full, and get in a bunch of extra calories.
