That sandwich is ridiculous and self-indulgent. You must get rid of the bread.

Give it a try with roasted pine nuts. They'll keep their crunch and provide an additional, tasty flavor.

Oh, that is an excellent idea. I like pine nuts.

Looks great! Steak is expensive though so not something I could do often.

I dislike mushrooms like bass and decided to sub in relatively dry coleslaw and red peppers. I made a few for the 4th and they were phenomenal. They don't hold up well to multiple radial cuts (how you cut a pizza), but halves and even quarters worked okay. For what it's worth, a cheap and chewy cut of meat isn't an entirely bad thing for this sandwich. I have this retarded affinity for flap steak -- and it's NOT the same as flank steak -- so that's what I used, and it turned out amazingly well. More than anything, I think this is just a novel way to make sandwiches... you hollow the bread before of slice it. It's not all that zany of an idea, you just end up with more crust.

Hmm, the slaw and peppers idea looks really good. That makes me think that fennel would fit the bill, too. It's the same concept but a different flavor profile. Oh, the possibilities.

Make sure the bacon is not in an S-curve... vertical only.

    Holy crap that looks good.

Is there a purpose of flattening it with the weights for so long though? Other than making it thin and easier to fit in your pie hole of course.
