Default what to do after a rest week

hey all...im basically just looking for some opinions on what you guys think i should do after taking a short break. next week im either going to take the entire week off...or do a deload week where i'll do T,Th instead of MWF and deload my lifts about 60 percent. i have a really difficult time doing nothing, so most likely i'll do the deload instead of a complete break. here lies the question; what should i do upon coming back? should i go right back to my work weights before the break, or ease back into it? will the rest week cause any strength loss? i'm making some good gains at the moment and i dont want to screw anything up, but my body is telling me to back off.

I'm not sure what one is supposed to do but, I back off about 10/20lbs of my last 3 sets of 5 and workup 5lbs a day (workout day) and continue on.

If it's just a week off, I'd follow the PPST instructions for a 10% deload. Basically go right back into 3x5 with 10% knocked off your worksets.

Rip warns against deloading more than 10% for more than one workout, but I don't think a week entirely off will make much difference unless you're still in the very early novice stages.

See how you feel during the warmup sets, but plan to deload a little, regress a session or two's weight or hit where you left off or even advance while you're fresh - again, see how you feel and be prepared for anything around the general vicinity.

Repeat your last workout. A week isn't much. Why are you taking a week off?

I have a tougher time getting mentally geared up for heavy work after time off than I do getting physically ready.

Yesterday was my first workout in 8 days. I increased all my weights from prior session and didn't have any trouble.

forget all these pussies telling you to back off. Just act as if you didnt miss a session, a week is nothing, as long as you eat and rest properly you'll be ready to roll again with the same weight.
