This has been my experience. If I have an extended period of really terrible sleep for any reason it usually takes one good 8 hr night, and I'm back in the saddle.

I think the effect of diet on sleep is not talked about enough, as well. I know when I'm eating a low-carb, mostly meat and veggies diet I need far less sleep and feel more alert during the day than when I'm eating a lot of starchy carbs.

For about 2 weeks now I've been taking this PM concoction to help me sleep. It doesn't help you fall asleep and I still seem to wake up during the night. The thing is I usually wake up in the morning for work and the only thing I want to do is go back to sleep. Since I started taking this though I just wake up and feel fully awake.

It's got GABA and melatonin in it and some other natural stuff. I was just trying it for fun but it seems to be doing something.

EDIT: Just looked it up. It has GABA, melatonin and L-theanine as well as some zinc and magnesium.

All the more reason to smoke a j before hitting the sack, it'll make you sleep right through and it's incredibly restful sleep.

    Default Sleep disorders blow

I unknowingly had sleep apnea, severely, for like 10 years. Id stop breathing approx 120 times an hour depending on if I was on my back or side. Around 70 times on my side. I could sleep for 12 hours, go to work on Monday and have to go back to sleep when I got home because the quality of sleep was soo bad it was like I hadn't slept at all. I got a CPAP machine and now after 6-8 I wake on my own with no grogginess. If you have a sleep problem you need to see a doctor. It will impact you training, recovery, and general lifestyle. I blame it for about 100 lbs of fat I am currently working off and the depression it gave me that caused my lack of active lifestyle that contributed to said weight gain. Take it from me don't take sleep for granted. Although since I'm also a nerd I wouldn't say an all nighter of Star Wars is a waste of time. I've done it with Lord of the Rings a few times.

When I was doing Texas method, intensity day was always after a late night Thurs - where, not only would I be rolling to bed at 2am but also up at 6 to get kids to school, I found that it had no effect at all on my goals- I would say that the effect of lack of sleep would be apt (for me at least) to be cumulative rather than immediate.

In terms of smoking dope before bed- thats the same as alcohol- it doesn't produce as restful a sleep as just sleeping, I try not to eat much before bed either.

RevitaPM from Revitalabs. It's pretty expensive, I don't think I'll buy it again. I may experiment with taking the melatonin, GABAs and l-theanine on their own though.

I'm only speaking from personal experience obviously, but I find dope to give really deep sleep because the body's uppers and downers don't seem to bounce around as much as when you're drinking.
