I'll be 58 this year. I do cleans and love the movement however, I'm not so hot with the form. DL is 315 now and the PC at 140, so my ratio is not so stellar either. Still, I see room for improvement over time. I've only been doing them consistently for about 6 months. If you want to add them in, go for it.
I'm 60 and have the exact same numbers for the clean and DL. I started SS a little over a year ago, with zero experience in either lift, and don't feel like I have very good form in the clean. I enjoy doing cleans and like the break from the slow lifts. At the rate I'm going, I expect that my DL will continue to move up more than my clean. So the 40% ratio looks like it is good in my case.
Thanks for the input everyone, I have enjoyed beginning to learn them and I think I can do it with time. My main issue currently is racking and flexibility of my wrist, along with some CTS in my right arm. But my wrists are simply not flexible, as well racking solidly on my shoulder muscles. I have been learning form with 45-75 lbs., but getting my shoulders in and my elbows out will take some work.
