Make it raw, and how is this any different than weightlifting? I agree with Geir - with all the shit they currently have, powerlifting should be there. I mean table tennis, handball and badminton for god's sake?

Do you think a setup similar to the IPF raw challenge would work? They give out medals for best lifters <93kg and 93kg+. Although someone told me the reason other countries invest so much in weightlifting is because they can get an absurd amount of medals so maybe there would be support from other countries to have yet another barbell sport to aid in this.

You want to replace weightlifting with powerlifting? Because the IOC limits the medal count.

There are problems with having a central authority governing the whole sport. Some aspects of this are discussed in an article here written by Myles Kantor. Maybe some powerlifters don't want powerlifting to be an olympic sport too.

I think the IPF took a good step with changing the weight classes. Even if it doesn't help with olympic recognition, fewer weight classes = more competition. I hope the USAPL adopts them soon.

Anyone else find it stupid that some feds now have a 259lb weight class to go along with the 242lb and 275lb weight classes?

I'd like to see powerlifting in the Olympics for the simple reason that it would create a standard of rules and judging rather than have way too many feds and records and no good way to compare the best with the best.

incomprehensible gear? Go all RAW. Association to steroids? I associate a lot of sports and most high level athletes with steroids. If weightlifters can do it (beat the tests), powerlifters can too. Too high of medal count? Hell, I don't know.
