Default Unusual experience while doing Power Clean

    Mark,

Today is my first day in power clean. I did them with 20 kg weight. I elevated the bar to usual hight from the ground by placing few weights below the barbell.

I took a deep breath through mouth before pulling the weight from the ground and hold my breath all through the repetition, that is I took the breath again only after placing the weights back on the ground.

I did 1 repetition per 1 set so that I could practice the form and technique as the way you showed in your videos.

Today I might have done about 25 reps. For 3 reps, I had this unusual experience. I don't know how to explain this.

I felt something like dizzy, I don't know if that was dizzy as the bar was still in my hands and it did not fell down. I didn't feel fainted or loss of energy. My vision was blurred for few seconds(4 or 5). I didn't feel any kind of pain or any such thing. This experience triggered when I jumped from the jumping position straight up into the air and exactly at that moment when I hit back the floor with my feet where I felt this.

Is this normal? Or am I causing any trouble to my body?

Power clean felt really good and I feel a lot flexible with my body after doing it. I wanted to do few more repetitions but I was a little scared due to this unusual experience that I encountered.

    Please guide me.

The book is your guide. Why do you not just read? Why must you post this shit when you are determined to do your own version of the program anyway?

I get dizzy everytime I do a heavy power snatch.....it has probably happened 100 times. Maybe I have an aneurysm that just refuses to pop.

When I first did SS, I once fucked up by forgetting to bring my little book that I kept track of how much I was power cleaning.

My last work set had been at 155 pounds. Well, I didn't remember what the weight was, and put up 175 pounds since I didn't have my book after warming up. On the 3rd rep, I got dizzy and fell backwards. Hahaha, looked like an idiot to the observers I'm sure.

More over I just started reading the book and I haven't come across anything so far that dealt with the experience that I am facing.

If you protected your carotid artery by keeping elbows and shoulders up so that the bar does not rest on your throat I guess you wouldn't feel dizzy. The weight on the bar doesn't matter (well, actually when the bar is heavy your technique deteriorates, but you get the point).

Try the search function on this forum. Diziness during power cleans has been talked about ad nauseum.
