Default question on dropping the bar on power clean

When I drop the bar and catch it at the bottom, it feels like the weight is trying to pull my shoulders/arms out of socket? Is that how its supposed to feel?

Not like that, if you use your quads to absorb some of the impact, like you're supposed to.

Also don't just let it go right to the length of your arms before you start to slow it down.

I pop it off my shoulder and turn my hands downwards right away so that I can slow it down as it descends. Like the down portion of an upright row.

I was under the impression that was not the best thing to do as it will provoke elbow tendinitis.

Yeah you're probably right, it seems to work alright for me. I don't poweclean a ton of weight either though...

Couple of vids on how to lower the weight like a boss:

The arms do a bit of deceleration as they unbend, with the thighs catching the rest.

Not that I am anywhere close to this level but I would think dropping a couple hundred pounds on your thighs would hurt alot.

Anyway, thanks guys. I will try and take more of the impact on my legs.

Nah, it's one of those things you get used to and won't even notice. I mean, it's not pleasant, but it's hardly painful. You're still using your arms and shoulders to slow it down, but hitting your thighs keeps it from yanking.
