You should try 7.5# jumps. A pair of 1.25# plates costs about $9 from amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Grey-Machined-..._bxgy_sg_img_b

I am going to be switching to 7.5# jumps now that I've finally hit 350lbs on my squat. Maybe it's stupid for the squat but I know you'll love these plates for your presses if you don't have them already. I just really like the idea of getting an extra 5# gain in 2 sessions over what I would get with only jumping 5# each time.

Got any vids of these recent lifts? I have the same forward knee travel issue that you had before.

    Good shit regardless though!

haha. I'm on 5lbs jumps now Conway. I guess it's hard to hold back the excitement...especially for people who are lifting these big weights for the first time in their lives. Don't worry I'm following the program. 5lbs it is.

I have one for 255lbs. Arms are long so I know it looks weird in the video. Tried everything but I can't get them closer. It works for now.

Look at the last video. That was 255lbs. I'll have to take another one soon for 290lbs or 295lbs monday.

Well a couple months ago I finally started listening to Rip and got my diet and sleep into line. I was stuck at about 235# on squat at this time. I think I got there doing jumps of 5s and 10s from my starting weight depending on how I felt. I kept failing some sets and other stupid shit as well for many many months. Eventually it just started clicking once I ate and slept like it was going out of style. Since then I have been making all jumps of 10# on squats and 20# on deads. They're finally starting to feel like impossible jumps for me though which is why I'm switching to jumps of 7.5# on squats. Also it really helped me that my best friend and I decided to see who could get stronger in 3 months time. For some reason beating your best friend seems more important than beating some arch nemesis. Haha.

P.S. Enjoy your micro plates .

yeah for me though I want to stay on SS for about 3 or 4 months and get strong. I do not however, want to keep eating like a beast, like I'm now. I've been fat my whole life so I do want to cut down and have that nice body. I wanted to do it the other way of gaining muscle and losing fat but people on here helped me understand a lot. Last year I lost 45lbs. I was skinnier but I lost muiscle too. I was still flabby, but skinny. Now I have seen the light and I went from 220 up to 253. I'm stronger, bigger(some fatter probably too), and eventaully I will switch to 5/3/1 or something to keep my strength and loose the fat.

I think the majority on here are not in favor of looking like a beach guy with abs and shit, but if you've been fat since childhood with man boobs it gets to you. So for now, fuck it. I'm gaining weight and shit so in 3 or 4 months I'll revise my eating plan and ask advise again based on my goals.

I realised when I watched the weightlifting olympics that you can be fuck strong AND relatively low BF. The guys in the weight classes are strong as hell but they can't eat too much or they'll get fat and into the next weight class. so they probably tailor their nutrition to gain as much strength but stay at low BF. The weight class over 105kg+ of course can get fat becasue their is no upper limit.

I'm not a professional powerlifter so I'm not concerned with squatting 600lbs one day. For now, the main focus is strength and I'm eating like a beast. Thereafter, I will prove that I can look like a sexy motherfucker AND strong!

These are my goals. Fuck it. Tomorrow is 290lbs!!!!!!

If you're still gaining around the mid-section and are above 20% BF just start cutting down by ~150-200kcal per week and see if you're still recovering for all of your workouts. Also you might like intermittent fasting. I've been doing this and I've stopped gaining weight at 210# but I keep losing fat and getting stronger. I came from the other end where I had chicken legs, a six pack and arms. I'm glad to have finally filled out a bit. Maybe I'd still be hitting 10s if I was still doing GOMAD? But I think I've finally found that fine line of compromise with my diet and strength gains. And yes, getting stronger before trying to lose weight is definitely the best choice.
