Damn. Another theory (old people like stronger flavors) shot to hell.
New theory: strange people like strange foods, at any age.
I've learned that you just have to be willing to give different foods a try. I tried these sweet & salty dried fish snacks that I picked up at an international foods store, and they were awesome. Smelled like cat food though.
I had something like that in Japan once, tiny dried fish with a sweet-salty coating. Kind of like minnow jerky.
Strangely good.
The boiled sea snails though smelled like dead things that wash up at low tide.
And they turned out to taste just like that too, ugh.
You must be eatting shitty kraut if mix all that shit with it. Shit give me some rye bread and white horseradish make some sammiches out of it
How do you cook your kraut? Or do you just take it out of bag and heat it up?
FYI - cold saurkraut from the bags in the refrigerated section is pretty awesome without heating it up.
I haven't found a huge difference between krout brands.
Are you a conosuer? What's a good brand? How do you spell conosuer?
I just throw cold krout into my bowl-o-calories (potatoes, chicken, etc from the microwave) to help cool it down and add some flavor.
Krout cooked for a few minutes with a chopped apple and some fennel seeds is an awesome side-dish too.
I bet horseradish would be good in that, have to try it...
Oh man you guys...
Do this buy a few pounds of kraut and pork spare ribs. Fry ribs in bottom of pot add kraut (dont remove the grease and fat) and mix ribs into with Onion and thyme heat up and let it sit out overnight
Now if it was holidays and made some kielbasi (my families recipe) after I boiled the fresh I would cut up about lb of smoked and fresh kielbasi and throw that in there to sit over night too
