I switch to Starr's fairly early because it become apparent that I could not gain weight fast enough for SS on account of I'm a bitch. Although I did do SS quite successfully later on. Can't remember what kind of weight I was moving but it was sub 400 on the squat and deadlift, and a max of 200 on the bench

    Somedude,

Your squat may not suffer on 5/3/1 either. Check out DRice's log in the competitior's section. That is just an example of what 5/3/1 can do. I also squat 1x per week now (used to do 2x, but the second day was lighter paused squats), and things are still moving up.

I think you have a good plan of attack. Bench/Press first and keep moving it up.

Yeah. I had some goals based on the standard body weight milestones that I kind of want to reach. I'm just short on most of them and want to give it an honest effort to achieve them by the end of March.

    Goal/Current
    Squat - 350/345
    Bench - 200/180
    Deadlift - 400/335
    Press - 150/140

I think that both my bench and press have regressed off those numbers, but I have 6 weeks so it shouldn't be an issue. I've also experimented with my technique during this week's deload, which will hopefully pay off starting next week.

I'm probably going to move to Callador's program soon. Not off novice, really, but it seems like it fits my current goals. Especially since, even though there are 10 racks at my current gym, there's enough use that it's more convenient for everybody involved not to take up a rack for 1.5 whole hours - better to do 1-2 core lifts, move on to assistance that may not require a barbell.
